In The Heights

In The Heights at California Theatre Of The Performing Arts

Why see In The Heights?

From the Creator of Hamilton

Before Hamilton took over the world there was In the Heights! Lin-Manuel Miranda's exuberant portrait of Manhattan's Latino community on the island's Washington Heights was a sensational blockbuster show in its own right, picking up four Tony Awards and earning Miranda his first nomination for the Pulitzer Prize. Don't miss this local production of In The Heights!

The story is set in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan in a blistering hot summer. We follows a cast of characters from three generations, all of whom have a different relationship to heritage and contrasting feelings about the changes engulfing the neighborhood. With its score incorporating rap, salsa and Sondheim, In the Heights is a dazzling display of Miranda's songwriting talents, and dynamic portrait of a community not often given a voice on the musical theatre stage.

Amazing Play

As an individual who had not seen the film "In the Heights," I was unsure of what to anticipate from the play. To begin with, the entire ensemble was phenomenal; however, three members in particular stood out to me. Sonny was the first member of the ensemble who, in my opinion, stole the show. He was extremely affable and seized his role with both hands. Took me by surprise with laughter. Daniela and Karla were the other two individuals who stood out. The women also delivered outstanding performances in their respective roles. Praises to the San Bernardino Theatre for consistently providing the Inland Empire with exceptional theatrical productions. You have my continued support and my gratitude for this program. Now I must watch the movie since I have been informed that Sonny, whom I saw in the play, did an excellent job playing the character of Sonny on screen. ... Read more

Just as Alive as Breadway's Stage

I was so anxious to see the show and songs on the live stage once again. I was so impressed with the layout of the theater and acoustics, regardless of where your seats are. (Surprisingly enough, the further up I imagine the dance numbers were more powerful!) The story line is forever fond of family values, cultural strides, and the anticipated love story. ... Read more

See What you can do about it

Let me begin that the City of New York is raving about this show. As a fellow minority, I wish the prices of this show wasnt so expensive. I want to so much take my husband and family. My husband that has been serving in the military just returned from a tour in Iraq. I wanted to take him for which he has been wanting to attend this show. I know it would take him back to his Puerto Rican roots. So let us know if there are any military specials. Im there in a heart beat! ... Read more
